David Harris of Arlington Heights, the Republican candidate for State Representative from the 66th District, today announced that the Journal & Topics Newspaper chain, which is one of the largest newspaper publishers covering 16 northwest suburbs, has endorsed him for State Representative.
“I am truly complimented by the endorsement of the Journal & Topics Newspapers, one of the best community newspapers covering our region,” said Harris. “This endorsement, along with those of The Daily Herald, The Chicago Tribune, and the many other endorsements I have received from individuals, is further indication that my campaign message is on target. We need to fix our great State of Illinois and get it back on the right track. That is what I have been talking about throughout my campaign.”
The full text of the Journal & Topics Newspapers is as follows:
“In the 66th District, which includes a large portion of Mt. Prospect, Elk Grove Village and Arlington Hts. and four precincts in northern Des Plaines, the clear choice is Republican David Harris.
A former state representative who served from 1983-1992, Harris, we feel, has the desire and ability to break down some of the barriers of partisanship that have plagued Springfield for many years. He understands the issues, has a down-to-earth personality, strongly advocates reaching across the aisle, and has a deep, impeccable background of public service.
The single term of Harris’ opponent, Democrat Mark Walker, has been at best OK. Illinois and our area cannot afford average public servants. Elect David Harris.”
