Harper College students visit State Capitol

A number of students from Harper College, accompanied by Phil Burdick, the Chief Communications Officer at Harper, met with State Rep. David Harris at the State Capitol in Springfield recently. Several of the students were from Rep.Harris' district.

The group came to Springfield to encourage the General Assembly to expand the number of Monetary Assistance Program (MAP) grants that are provided for students at community colleges throughout Illinois. The MAP grants have focused heavily on traditional 4-year college students, and the Harper College representatives wanted to emphasize the increasing number of students now attending community colleges like Harper.

The group had a worthwhile and informative discussion with Representative Harris.

Paid for by Committee to Elect David Harris. A copy of our report is filed with and available for purchase from the State Board of Elections, Springfield, IL.
