Rep. Harris recognizes St. Peter Lutheran School for blue ribbon

State Representative David Harris (R-Arlington Heights) presented a Certificate of Recognition from the Illinois House of Representatives to St. Peter Lutheran School in Arlington Heights in recognition of the school being named a “Blue Ribbon School of Excellence” by the US Department of Education for 2013.

Since 1982, the Blue Ribbon Schools program has been run by the U.S. Department of Education as a way to recognize high-performing schools,as well as schools in low-income areas that significantly improve school-wide test scores.

St. Peter was one of only 21 schools in Illinois and only 286 across the nation to receive a Blue Ribbon Award in 2013. The Department of Education credits the school’s “Pathways to Learning” program with improving the math and reading scores of its students and making it one of the highest-achieving schools in the state.

Rep. Harris was pleased to congratulate the students and teachers of St. Peter Lutheran School on earning the prestigious Blue Ribbon award.
