Rep. Harris joined the nation of France in honoring WWII veteran Major (Ret) Jack Bornhoeft for his service securing the freedom of France during the world war from Nazi tyranny.
Major (Ret) Bornhoeft was awarded the French Legion of Honor at a ceremony held recently in his honor. The Legion of Honor is the country's highest award given to a foreigner. Mr Bornhoeft joins an elite group of recipients of this significant award, such as former General and President Dwight Eisenhower. The award was given by Vincent Floreani, the French Consul General in Chicago.
Rep. Harris added some local frosting to the award by presenting Mr. Bornhoeft with a Certificate of Recognition from the Illinois House of Representatives in commemoration of his service and his receipt of the Legion of Honor.
